My Story
I’m Alex Glass, founder of Market Grove Design and Landscapes, based right here in scenic Orillia ON, where I was born and raised. My journey began with hands-on work in garden and lawn maintenance and landscape construction—shaping outdoor spaces with care and craftsmanship. Driven by my passion for design and the balance of natural forms, I went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph.

Over the years, my inspiration has come from many places: the character of local landscapes, the quiet strength of rustic materials, and the beauty I’ve discovered through travel, architecture, and timeless garden design. Each project, whether a custom cedar planter box, handcrafted piece of furniture, or a thoughtfully designed garden, aims to reflect and honour its surroundings.

I believe in working with what’s already there—drawing out the natural shapes and spirit of a space—so that every design feels rooted, authentic, and seamlessly blended into its environment. At its heart, Market Grove is about creating spaces and pieces that feel lived in, loved, and truly part of the landscape.
